To correctly report on time-based metrics like tickets resolved or new employees, you'll have to configure the date range dimension, i.e the attribute that controls the metric's timeframe.
How to set the date range dimension?
- Select a widget
- Click on + metric to select the relevant metrics you want to measure
- Click on the + filter, select the Date Range Dimension, and ****select a date attribute that will control the timeframe of the widget.
Note: The attributes that have the Date (YYYYMMDD) data type are the only ones that will be available for you to pick when you set your date range dimension.
To help you understand this better, here is an example for you to picture. Say, you want to pull a report to see how many interviews were conducted this month vs. the number of employees who joined this month. You create a widget, and add the following metrics:
- total interviews, grouped by department
- total employees, grouped by department
For each metric, under the filters, you can set the date range dimension. For calculating total interviews, your date range dimension can scheduled date and for calculating total employees, your date range dimension can be joined date.
Now, at a report level, when you apply the date range within which you want to view the data, you'd be able to see the right data.
